Kawagoe Day Trip

Tour Outline KAWAGOE was developed as Cross Gate City by river transportation systems. The town was established on the bank of Shingashi River, which is connected to Edo and its bay area at the end. Through the logistical canal, they transported things between Edo capital city and all other areas, like north and interior areas. In 1457, Kawagoe castle was established by Ota family clans. Since that time, Kawagoe was considered as really important town to control the regions. After TOKUGAWA shogun moved into Edo, today's Tokyo, they settled Kawagoe as the gate city to Edo, such as Hakone. Today, the downtown area of the old town was still well remained in good condition. We can see historical constructures and enjoy to eat their local foods made by local sweet potates as their main farm products.
